U-96 Submarine 50x25 cm

Submarine model in wood / metal on plate. 50 x 25 x 8.5 cm. U-96's keel was laid down on 16 September 1939, but was commissioned on 14 September 1940. The maximal surface speed was 17,7 knots, and the maximal submerged speed was 7,6 knots for the submarine. U-96 caused the sinking of a numerous amount of ships including the Swedish ship Stureholm. The submarine was featured in the movie Das Boot from 1981.
